Where BuildVue's data comes from

Every launched city's permit source is checked on a nightly cycle. Parcel data for King County, Pierce County, and Snohomish County properties and sales history refresh on the same cycle. The exact time since the last confirmed check for each source is shown on this page.

If a source stops returning new data its status changes from fresh to stale, and if it stays overdue long enough it is marked as not recently updated rather than quietly showing an old timestamp as if it were current.

BuildVue draws from official public government databases. Building permits and land use permits come from the Seattle Open Data Portal, the Bellevue Open Data Portal, the Everett Open Data Portal, the City of Tacoma Open Data, the Pierce County GIS Open Data, the Snohomish County Public Records, the City of Kent GIS, the City of Lakewood Permit Portal, the City of Burien GIS, the City of Kirkland GIS, the City of Renton GIS, the City of Puyallup Permit Portal, the City of Redmond GIS, the MyBuildingPermit, the MyBuildingPermit, the MyBuildingPermit, the MyBuildingPermit, the MyBuildingPermit, the MyBuildingPermit, the MyBuildingPermit, the MyBuildingPermit, the MyBuildingPermit, the MyBuildingPermit, the City of Shoreline eTRAKiT, the City of Marysville eTRAKiT, the City of Mountlake Terrace eTRAKiT, the City of Stanwood Permit Portal, the Bellevue Open Data Portal, the Bellevue Open Data Portal, the Bellevue Open Data Portal, the Bellevue Open Data Portal, the Bellevue Open Data Portal, the Bellevue Open Data Portal, the City of Orting Permit Portal, the City of Sumner Permit Portal, the City of Gig Harbor Public Portal, the City of Lake Stevens Citizens Connect, the City of Covington Maps and GIS, the City of Woodinville Citizen Access, the City of North Bend Citizens Connect, the City of Des Moines Citizens Connect, the City of SeaTac Permitting and Licensing, the City of Tukwila Permit Center, the City of Monroe Permitting and Licensing, the City of Arlington Development Proposals, and the City of Edgewood Public Portal, and parcel data and sales history come from the county assessors. Data is updated regularly to reflect new permits, status changes, and completions.

Every night the import reads each jurisdiction's permit portal, and permits at the same address are grouped into one project.

In Seattle a quiet gap of two years followed by a new permit starts a new era on the same page, other cities need a longer gap, and a few keep every permit at an address in one era.

Only development work is published, so repairs, tenant improvements, mechanical and electrical permits and anything without a site address stay out of the map and the project pages.
