Used our existing finished basement space and added an ADU with a kitchen, bathroom and bedroom space. The unit has a separate entrance. Our contractor told us that permits were pulled when the work was done in 2022 but when we went to get a copy of those permits, they didn't exist and were never filed. We are now needing to retroactively permit this basement remodel. It was previously a finished space where our laundry was and play space/storage and then we put up a wall to separate a bedroom space and added the kitchen and bath areas.
