I currently own an approximately 1 acre parcel with 2 homes, developed before the current zoning and grandfathered as 2 single family residences, despite lots only allowing one residence. One home is rented to a 2 person family; the other home is rented room by room to 6 tenants. This was a permissible use while the property was within Snohomish County's zoning jurisdiction, but Lake Stevens recently annexed the parcel. Pursuant to Lake Stevens's code, the larger of the two homes meets the definition of a boarding house. I am applying for the larger of the two homes to be used as a boarding house as defined under Lake Stevens Code. In total, the two homes consist of approximately 5,500 ft2 and 7 units. The house in question, however, is approximately 4,200 ft2 and 6 units. |
